dawn & i had the opportunity to hear The John Corbett Band in Daytona, FL on July 2. Even better, we got to meet him & get autographs. He was very gracious, funny, and kind. When I told him my name he said, "C-O-B-Y ?" Surprised that someone got it right & didn't go straight for the K-O-B-E (as in Bryant) spelling made me happy. He responded with, "My nickname was Corby! I'll sign it Corby... I've never signed it Corby."
He was CUTE. AND his band was good - they come out with a CD next Feb. (which is far away & weird, but whatever...) He gave little explanations of the songs, which I LOVE.
What was that you asked? Oh... 'why were dawn & i in Daytona?'
...what an interesting question... with interesting answers...
Dawn has introduced me to the world of NASCAR & I LOVE IT.
(SO kidding!)
Dawn has introduced me to the world of "promotions". It's a job. It pays well. Sometimes one must travel. Hence Daytona. We were doing a GOODYEAR Promo. Can you really picture Dawn & I getting exciting about tires? Didn't think so. It's not possible.
Never say never? We're sayin' never.
So, there we were in the pits of Daytona Florida - rednecks 'erywhere.
Now, my Aunt & Uncle love NASCAR & they aren't idiots, so I know some of the crowd had some intelligence... but it was like looking for Dawn's ex-boyfriend in a gay bar (hard to find, if not damn near impossible).
So... Dawn, Eric, Paul, & Jeff & I go up to Daytona and it's a 4 day promo, so we stay at the Red Carpet Inn. I looked for the red carpet unsucessfully.
The people we worked with were for the most part kinda cool, except for a couple of hookers who do promo's all the time & consider themselves to be models. Did you ever know someone who said they were a model & they really weren't? Have you ever known someone who said they wanted to be a model, but really couldn't even if they paid a rip-off "model agency" for "headshots"? hmmm...
Promo's... thank God the money is good.
