Pop Culture "News" Rant:

Okay, so I'll admit it. I enjoy a little pop culture "news" every now and then... sometimes every now... and now.
I don't even know why! When I'm watching E!News and Steve hears me say out loud, "Who cares!?!?" he's probably thinking, "You care or you wouldn't be watching."
I think he's half right (if that is what he is even thinking at all - he's definitely not watching with me. Kudos to him!).

I think... maybe I am just a celebrity "news" snob. I don't like to hear about people that I don't consider to be "famous"... scratch that! I don't like to hear about people that I don't consider talented (or at least once so).
Oh, I am opening a whole can of worms here but, why don't people have to be talented anymore?
I know the world is a shallow, shallow shit-hole where all we care about is looks, but is that all? C'mon, people. (I am generalizing and I don't like that. Sorry "people.")

You know what I really want? More shows like Inside the Actor's Studio. *Stop sighing and stick with me here:* Kim Kardashian will never be on that show. I doubt Lindsay Lohan will either. I am sure they are very nice girls (chuckle), but I have nothing to learn from them (do you?).
Inside the Actor's Studio - It's a great show: You get to learn a little bit about an actor's biography, life was tough/life was easy, this director said this, that co-star said that, here is some advice, answers to a questionnaire... we all applaud (and maybe learn something) and no-one had to call the police for trespassing.
Sure, some of you are going to say, "but, that show is so (insert negative comment here)." Well, guess what? It's not trash. Sometimes I settle for trash. (Ew self!)
I think sometimes I watch Entertainment Tonight or Extra because I enjoy keeping up with the "biz" and I like hearing about new developments (sometimes personal). I leave feeling depressed, empty, and disappointed. These programs (or progrims, as I pronounce it) have been pretty much banned in my home. My silent protest. (We can all do our part, ladies and gents.)
Pressing on...

I just wish it (these progrims) could be classed up a bit. I don't think the word "classy" is used much to describe people, businesses, music, etc. anymore because there is a lack of. If someone calls you "classy" even once this year, good for you!

In closing I guess I'm asking tv producers to create some programming that is interesting to folks - about quality performers/art.
In the mean time I'll be reading playbill.com online and watching the Ovation channel and Great Performances and recording Actor's Studio (when it's on... tick tock tick tock...) and... occasionally be watching E!News, because going cold turkey may result in a full relapse and we don't want that.
