My father was raised Catholic, but hated every second of it. I think he hates all organized religion, as he never even attempted to connect with another faith (in my lifetime anyway).
I think the guilt that comes from being raised Catholic* really effected my father. So much that it effected me and I never practiced Catholicism. Strange how our parents rub off on us.
I feel guilty about the smallest things sometimes, so I am working on that. Letting go of that guilt. It's very unhealthy. And I don't want it to rub off on my kids.
*I've just re-read this post days later and must clarify: I do know that it is rudely stereotypical and an ignorant generalization to say Catholicism breeds the guilty ones. However, in my household I would say that my father agreed it did. I, personally, do not know.
